HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?

ROTERFADEN and the TASCHENBEGLEITER were born in the context of a design diploma project in 2006. Its title was "Calendar".
What can be improved her? What do organisers and calendar booklets in people's pockets look like? Targets were high. For instance: no hole punching, and the loose paper business may stay, because working with notes does not mean to be chaotic

It quickly became useful that at the interdisciplinary university the major of communication design could be extended to the field of product design. Then ther was a lot of trying, prototyping, asking, forming and finally the application at the patent office.

Seven months later, ROTERFADEN was born. The diploma project was graded a distinguished A. It almost took another year from prototype to serial production. Especially the search for a suitable manufacturer for the clip mechanism was demanding.

The good things: Right from the beginning, ROTERFADEN was very popular, because the product is so practical. This made a project grow into a small business. Helpful for the takeoff were also numberous positive articles in the press.

100% MADE IN GERMANY Our booklets and the TASCHENBEGLEITER is handmade in Germany by people loving their work. We exclusively use high quality materials which we use to manufacture long-lasting and robust companions. Every TASCHENBEGLEITER is unique. Designed by our customers, freshly sewed by us. The stainless steel clips are made in Bavaria. Each clip is repeatedly checked.

ROTERFADEN is traditional handicraft, modern concept, timeless design. Meaningful, not just nice.
Exclusive, but not elitist.

Beyond our online shop, we cooperate with a growing number of retailers which sell ROTERFADEN products in their stationeries, book stores but also in completely different shops. Close interaction with retailers and customers are path breaking for further development of our products. For instance, the TASCHENBEGLEITER in format A4+ as a superb conference companion and a leather alternative as inside material were added recently due to mutliple requests. The booklet assortment is growing. Special sauce, be it as unique creations or as special editions, are our daily business. We take criticism to heart.
